One of the most daunting tasks of a small producer is to manage allocations of very small-lot wines. We produce 150 cases or less of most of our wines.
In an attempt to reward our long-time followers and to provide access to those who are just discovering us, the majority of our wines are available exclusively to our members.
These wines have been selected to be available to everyone. Check back often. These selections change regularly.

No grape variety whispers the story of its place – its very terroir – with the eloquence and depth of Pinot Noir. This is why we dedicate a special collection to it: our Pinot Noir Experience Wines. This category is a profound exploration, designed to reveal to our members the unparalleled uniqueness of Pinot Noir, showcasing its remarkable ability to adapt, reflect, and sing of the specific site and the dedicated hands that nurture it.
When perfect vineyard sites converge with exceptional skill and an abundance of love, these are the wines that emerge. Our collection features six unique single-vineyard Pinot Noirs, each a liquid testament to its precise location and the unwavering passion of the growers who tend these coveted parcels of land. We are incredibly fortunate to source from six distinctive AVAs, or growing regions, each contributing its own vibrant personality and inimitable style to this remarkable portfolio.
Unlike conventional approaches that aim for a ‘house style’ or a predetermined taste profile, our philosophy is profoundly different. Not a single one of these wines is crafted in the same way. Instead, each bottle is a bespoke creation, meticulously guided to express the vineyard’s inherent character and, most importantly, the profound love and dedication the grower has poured into their craft. Récherché Reserve Selections
In the world of wine, the term ‘reserve’ often lacks a definitive meaning. We sought a designation that truly conveyed the complex nature of our most exceptional Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. We found it in the French word Recherché (pronounced ruh-shair-SHAY) – an adjective that perfectly encapsulates something rare, exquisite, and profoundly refined, cherished by those with discerning tastes.
Our Recherché Reserve wines are born from a confluence of rare perfection. Great Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, the kind that truly stops you in your tracks, originates from very specific, hallowed sites. These are places where the grapes achieve not just a certain sugar level, but a complete, physiological maturity – a full spectrum of flavors, a perfect balance of sugar and acidity, and beautifully developed tannins in their skins and seeds. This level of ripeness is incredibly rare, demanding cool yet consistently sunny locations.
Indeed, only a handful of vineyards in California – perhaps a few dozen – can consistently yield grapes of this unparalleled quality. We are immensely blessed to cultivate long-standing relationships, often spanning years or even decades, with the stewards of these remarkable places. It is only when we have worked intimately with a vineyard, when we have truly captured its essence and the spirit of the people behind it, that a wine earns the coveted Recherché Reserve designation.
To put it simply: there are mushrooms, and then there are truffles. These are our truffles – wines of profound depth, complexity, and singular expression, destined to be savored and remembered.
Po·lyph·o·ny
In the revered lineage of Pinot Noir, particularly in its Burgundian heartland, the vineyard is paramount. Grand Cru sites command reverence for their singular expression of terroir, yielding wines of profound complexity and age-worthiness. This pinnacle of achievement – a wine that gracefully evolves, developing unmatched character and nuanced layers over decades – is the ultimate standard for Pinot Noir.
At our core, we believe age ability and complexity are the holy grail of this noble grape. With an unparalleled collection of Pinot Noir expressions from diverse clones across ten distinct growing regions, our cellar is a treasure trove of possibilities. We meticulously ferment individual clones from single vineyards with various yeasts, each contributing unique flavors and textures. Our wines then mature in a vast array of barrels – sourced from 42 different coopers, varying in age, forest origin, and toast level – each imparting its own subtle influence.
From this complex and diverse palette, a radical idea was born. What if we dared to transcend the conventional boundaries of single-vineyard expression? What if we harmonized the rich, deep character of a 943 clone from the Tondre Grapefield in Santa Lucia Highlands with the bright, floral elegance of a clones from the Lester Family Vineyard in the Santa Cruz Mountains? Then let’s add even more layers of complexity from other coveted sites. While such a blend might traditionally be deemed unconventional, we recognized its potential to achieve a higher standard: a wine of unparalleled complexity and profound age-worthiness.
This audacious vision culminated in Po·lyph·o·ny. The term itself, meaning ‘multiple songs or voices coming together to create unexpected harmonies,’ perfectly encapsulates our philosophy. Much like Bach’s intricate compositions, where individual melodies intertwine to form a richer, more profound whole, Po·lyph·o·ny is an orchestration of exceptional Pinot Noir elements. Each time you experience this wine, you can follow a different path, uncover a new theme, and discover a unique dimension of its intricate beauty.
